NOTE

The Launch SmartLink J2534 device itself does not provide any software licenses. It is simply a hardware interface that connects your computer’s OEM software to the vehicle’s ECU.

OEM software licenses vary—some are lifetime (one-time purchase), while many are subscription or annual fee based. Licenses are required to access software updates and advanced features.

So, the way the device works is by enabling communication between the software and the vehicle’s system, but to use the software itself, you need to obtain a separate license or subscription.
